Falaga Surf Coaching is a personal surf coaching service in Bali, Indonesia, run by Justin Buu’lolo. It offers private, semi-private, kids and small-group surf lessons around the Bukit Peninsula, South Bali, plus help finding the right surfboard to rent. Sessions are booked directly with Justin on WhatsApp.

Justin Buu’lolo is the surf coach behind Falaga Surf Coaching. He grew up surfing his home waves in Nias, North Sumatra, and has surfed and coached across Bali. He coaches every session himself, which is why Falaga stays small.

Sessions run around the Bukit Peninsula, South Bali, near spots such as Uluwatu, Balangan, Dreamland. Falaga has no fixed storefront or single beach — Justin picks the spot and the time from the conditions on the day and the level of the surfer, which is exactly why the lessons work for beginners and improving surfers alike. He confirms the meeting point with you over WhatsApp before the session.

Nias trips are not currently listed as a Falaga service. Nias is where Justin is from and where he learned to surf, and it shapes how he coaches — if you want to know whether a trip is running, ask him on WhatsApp.

Yes. First-time surfers are welcome, and a beginner session runs in white water at a sandy beach on a soft-top board. Justin stays in the water with you, so you are not sent out on your own to work it out.

Intermediate surfers are coached too. Falaga is a coaching service rather than a beginner surf school: returning surfers work on wave selection, positioning and confidence in bigger or less forgiving waves, and Justin steps the difficulty up as they improve.

Yes. There is a private kids lesson for one child (Rp 700,000, 2 hours) and a semi-private kids lesson for two children (Rp 550,000 per person, 2 hours). Kids sessions run in white water at a sandy beach with Justin in the water alongside them.

Yes, and it is part of what makes Falaga different. Alongside catching waves you learn who has priority, where to sit, how to paddle around other people and how to behave in a lineup — the things that make you welcome in the water rather than just able to stand up.

Two hours, every coached format. Justin takes the session himself from start to finish.

1:1 Private Lesson Rp 700,000, Private Kids Lesson Rp 700,000, Semi-Private Lesson Rp 550,000 per person, Semi-Private Kids Lesson Rp 550,000 per person, Group Lesson Rp 450,000. Board rental help is around Rp 300,000 on average, which changes with the board and what the rental shops have available. All prices are in Indonesian Rupiah.

Every coached session includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt. Bring swimwear, a towel and something to drink.

Yes. Falaga does not run a rental shop, but Justin will work out which board suits your surfing and the forecast — soft-top, longboard, shortboard, step-up or groveller — and point you to somewhere that has it. Rental is around Rp 300,000 on average and varies with the board.

Email at buulolojustin@gmail.com also reaches him, but WhatsApp is faster. There is no online booking system and no deposit page — you arrange the session with Justin directly.

There is no fixed booking window. Justin coaches every session himself, so his week fills up — message him with your dates as soon as you know them and he will tell you what is still free.

Cancellations made after 8 PM on the day before your lesson are charged 50% of the lesson price. Damage to a rental surfboard is not covered by the rental price. If a board is broken it is the renter’s responsibility, and the rental shop will charge for the repair.
