Formats & prices

Six ways to surf with Falaga

Prices are in Indonesian Rupiah, as published by Falaga. Tap through to WhatsApp and the message is already written for the format you picked.

  1. A surf coach and a surfer walking down a black sand beach in Bali towards a clean peeling wave

    01One to one

    1:1 Private Lesson

The whole session is yours. Justin watches every wave you take, tells you the one thing to change, and you try it on the next one. Because nobody else is sharing the coaching, a private session suits both a first-ever surf and an experienced surfer trying to fix a specific habit.

    • Feedback after your waves, not a lecture on the sand
    • Spot and time chosen for your ability and the forecast
    • Wave selection, positioning and surf etiquette as you go
    Price
    Rp 700,000
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    1 surfer

Includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt.

  2. A surf instructor walking a young girl and her surfboard into small waves on a Bali beach

    02One child

    Private Kids Lesson

Kids learn at their own pace and lose interest the moment they stop feeling safe. Justin stays in the water with your child, pushes them into waves they can actually ride, and builds up from lying down to standing without rushing it. Parents are welcome on the beach.

    • Justin in the water with your child for the full session
    • Sandy-bottom beach breaks, waves matched to the child
    • Water safety and ocean awareness taught alongside surfing
    Price
    Rp 700,000
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    1 child

Includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt.

  3. Justin Buu’lolo on the beach with two surfers holding their boards after a lesson in Bali

    03Two surfers

    Semi-Private Lesson

Two surfers, one coach. You still get individual feedback, and you get to watch each other surf, which is a surprisingly quick way to learn. It works best when both of you are at roughly the same level.

    • Individual feedback, shared session
    • Well suited to couples, friends and siblings
    • Cheaper per person than booking two private lessons
    Price
    Rp 550,000 per person
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    2 surfers

Includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt.

  4. A young surfer riding a soft-top surfboard across a small green wave in Bali

    04Two children

    Semi-Private Kids Lesson

Two children, one coach. Siblings and friends often push each other along — Justin keeps both of them busy and makes sure the quieter one still gets waves.

    • Both children in the water with Justin at once
    • Sandy-bottom beach breaks and small, forgiving waves
    • Works well for siblings and for friends on holiday together
    Price
    Rp 550,000 per person
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    2 children

Includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt.

  5. A group of surfers standing with their boards on a white sand beach in Bali before a lesson

    05Three or more

    Group Lesson

Bring everyone. Group sessions run at a sandy beach in waves everyone can handle, with Justin moving between surfers so nobody spends the session sitting on the sand. Tell him the group size and levels over WhatsApp and he’ll tell you how it will run.

    • Three or more surfers, one session
    • Everyone in the water, not queueing for a turn
    • Families and mixed-ability groups welcome
    Price
    Rp 450,000
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    3 or more surfers

Message Justin with your group size and he’ll confirm the total.

Includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt.

  6. Justin Buu’lolo walking out of the water in Bali carrying a soft-top surfboard

    06Find a board

    Board Rental Help

Falaga is not a board shop. What Justin does is work out which board suits your surfing and the forecast, then point you at somewhere that has it. That saves you renting something too small on your first week, or too big for the day you finally get good waves.

    • Soft-tops, longboards, shortboards, step-ups and grovellers
    • Board matched to your ability and the conditions, not to a shelf
    • Rental prices vary — Justin will tell you what to expect
    Price
    Rp 300,000 average
    Duration
    2 hours
    For
    1 surfer

The price changes with the board and what the rental shops have available.

Booking information

How booking works

There is no booking platform and no deposit page. You message Justin, he tells you what is free, and you agree a time.

  1. Message Justin on WhatsApp

Say when you are in Bali, how many of you there are, and roughly how much surfing you have done. That is enough for him to suggest a format.

  2. He confirms the time and the spot

The spot depends on the forecast and on your level, so it is agreed close to the session rather than weeks ahead.

  3. Meet, surf, get feedback

Two hours in the water with Justin watching your waves. Board, zinc and a surf shirt are there when you arrive.

Questions

About the lessons

All questions

How long is a surf lesson?

Two hours, every coached format. Justin takes the session himself from start to finish.

What is included in a surf lesson?

Every coached session includes soft-top board rental, zinc sunscreen, long-sleeve surf shirt. Bring swimwear, a towel and something to drink.

Where will we surf?

Sessions run around the Bukit Peninsula, South Bali, near spots such as Uluwatu, Balangan, Dreamland. Falaga has no fixed storefront or single beach — Justin picks the spot and the time from the conditions on the day and the level of the surfer, which is exactly why the lessons work for beginners and improving surfers alike. He confirms the meeting point with you over WhatsApp before the session.

Can complete beginners take a lesson?

Yes. First-time surfers are welcome, and a beginner session runs in white water at a sandy beach on a soft-top board. Justin stays in the water with you, so you are not sent out on your own to work it out.

How far in advance should I book?

There is no fixed booking window. Justin coaches every session himself, so his week fills up — message him with your dates as soon as you know them and he will tell you what is still free.

What is the cancellation policy?

Cancellations made after 8 PM on the day before your lesson are charged 50% of the lesson price. Damage to a rental surfboard is not covered by the rental price. If a board is broken it is the renter’s responsibility, and the rental shop will charge for the repair.
